What it does

• Battery backup — three D batteries take over if the mains drops, so a power cut doesn't skip a meal.

Before you rely on it

Check your kibble: 2–12 mm, dry food only. Larger or oddly shaped pieces can bridge over the outlet and stop the flow. Wet food spoils in the hopper and blocks the mechanism.

Run it at home for two or three days and watch it dispense before you trust it with a trip. Portion weights are approximate, so weigh a few servings against what your animal actually needs rather than assuming the setting is exact.

And the honest limit: a feeder handles meals, not everything else. For more than a couple of nights, someone should still be looking in.
