A timed feeder solves the schedule. A camera solves the part that actually keeps you up: knowing the food came out, and that somebody ate it.

The 160° lens looks down over the bowl, so you get the tray in frame rather than a corner of the kitchen.

What it does

• 304 stainless steel bowl, which is the right choice for cats: plastic bowls scratch and hold bacteria, and that's a common cause of chin acne.
• Dual power — mains with battery backup, so a power cut doesn't skip a meal.
• 4.5 L hopper, around a month of food for a small animal.

Before you rely on it

Check your kibble size. This handles 5–15 mm pieces; anything larger or an odd shape can bridge over the outlet. Run it for two or three days while you're home and watch it dispense before you trust it with a weekend.

Dry food only. Wet food spoils in a hopper and blocks the mechanism.

And one honest limit: a feeder covers meals, not welfare. We wouldn't leave a cat alone for more than two nights on a feeder alone — have someone look in.

Cleaning

The food bucket comes apart without screws and goes back together in about five seconds, which matters more than it sounds. Feeders that are awkward to clean don't get cleaned.
